About the role:
Our ecology team is growing and ERM is recruiting for a Principal Zoologist/Ecologist to join our high performing national team. This is an excellent opportunity based in our Perth office, to lead zoological/ecological assessments to support large-scale capital development projects, including for mining, oil and gas, renewables, and infrastructure sector clients.
We have a diverse client base, and your projects will encompass the full project life cycle, including impact assessments, biodiversity stewardship site assessments, biodiversity certification assessments, EPBC referrals, and strategic advisory.
As ERM is the leading provider of ecological services to the renewable energy sector, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our multi-disciplinary teams to deliver best practice across this rapidly evolving sector.
Responsibilities:
Delivering biodiversity values and constraints assessments, rehabilitation monitoring, biodiversity surveys, impact and offset assessments and ecological management plans
Conducting environmental analyses and mapping, research, and field surveys
Preparation of Biodiversity Stewardship Agreements
Provision of advice on the relevant regulatory framework and project approval pathway
Writing technical environmental reports, proposals, and tenders
Planning and managing projects with a range of complexity and scale
Undertake technical reviews
Building relationships with clients while actively pursuing new business opportunities
Mentoring junior staff and assisting with their professional development
If you bring the following, we'd love to hear from you:
10+ years’ experience in biodiversity impact assessment
Tertiary qualifications in zoology, ecology or related discipline
Extensive experience in leading ecological/zoological inputs and directing teams of field surveyors on large-scale projects
Experience in the preparation of bushfire risk assessments would be beneficial
Experience in the WA ecological/zoological consultancy market, with a strong external-facing, client-orientated approach
Excellent understanding of WA regional ecosystems and State/Commonwealth regulatory frameworks and policy
Experience in undertaking environmental impact assessments for EIAs
Proven track record in winning work
Willingness and/or experience in managing and training junior staff
Full Australian Driving licence
